OperationBluePrints

This is the Blue Miniature Pinscher, also known as a Min Pin or Mini Pin, eGroup that is working to save a part of our breed's history from extinction. WE DID IT, we can show Blues and Fawns in conformation competition in the United Kennel Club (UKC) thanks in part to the hard work of the OBP members and the UKC's Miniature Pinscher Breeders Association.

Five year old blue Min Pin adult, Prancealots Moonlight Margarita We are actively encouraging skin/coat testing of Blues, we are compiling the veterinary reports as proof of quality in Blues and we are hoping to someday offer our presentation to the MPCA for consideration of reinstating the Blue into show competition. We discuss issues like skin and coat density/texture, research into color dilution alopecia (CDA balding), diet, supplements and coat conditioning, health testing, the challenges of breeding for correct MinPin structure and "type" in a color that is disqualified from AKC competition. Operation Blue Prints under NO CIRCUMSTANCES support mixed breeding to reintroduce the color of the EXTINCT "Harlequin (Merle) Pinscher".

We encourage breeders to show and complete conformation Championships where it is still possible to show Blue MinPins, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - United Kennel Club – UKC, United Kingdom - The Kennel Club – TKC, Australia - Australian National Kennel Council and New Zealand – New Zealand Kennel Club. Guard your priviledge to show your Blues like a jealous lover! Never let what happened to the AKC registered Blue happen to your Blues! Show them proudly and finish those Championships of breed excellence!

DNA Health Research for Dilutes

Operation Blue Prints is excited to announce the most important and ground breaking study into Color Dilution Alopecia in Blue MinPins to date! If you have a dilute MinPin that has a normal coat or is suffering from any degree of hair loss, please participate in our quest for a cure! Click here for information on the CDA Research study ...

Do your homework before committing to buy!!! While the Blue is gaining popularity with a few responsible breeders, there are many more questionable people breeding Blues to line their pockets with money. What registry does the breeder use? Is it a reputable registry like the AKC, NCA or UKC? Most LEGITIMATE registries worldwide are listed here: Legitimate Dog Registries. Or does the breeder use a puppy mill registry? Puppy Farm Registries. What reason, what education, & what experience (what respected breeder mentored them) do the breeders have to be breeding Miniature Pinschers? There is SO MUCH MORE to breeding dogs than just the physical act of breeding, just because a dog CAN produce puppies doesn't mean it SHOULD be allowed to breed. Are the breeders reputable and respected by their peers of fellow breeders? Does the breeder health test their dogs, more specifically seek annual veterinary documentation on the condition of the coats of their Blues? Always insist on seeing the Blue parents & verify with your own eyes the condition of the coats. Puppies usually have full coats, but some genetic lines of MinPins progressively lose their hair and can be bald by 2 to 4 years of age. If the parents are balding, your puppy will likely follow the parent dogs' balding pattern. Does the breeder guarantee the coat from balding, how long is this warranty? Remember the dog will likely be 2 to 4 years old before the balding becomes evident. NEVER buy a puppy from a Pet Store, their only motivation is to make money, you want to buy from a breeder whose motivation is to bring the Miniature Pinscher's qualities out to perfection. There is not one breeder who loves their dogs and also sells to pet stores. There are no perfect dogs & no perfect breeders; we only stress to you that there are MANY questions to ask and many risks for you to understand before agreeing to purchase a Blue.

Our group began as a Yahoo! eGroup. PLEASE JOIN OUR DISCUSSIONS by clicking on any banner at the bottom of our pages! Anyone interested is welcomed, you need not own one (or even want one) to be interested. Discussion both pro/con is allowed and encouraged so that by intelligent argument we may weigh the evidence and thereby learn. For PET OWNERS, the list can help in determining a good breeder from a “for profit” breeder. This eGroup is a collection of many different individual breeders. This is a public eGroup and anyone is welcomed to join. A breeder's presence on this eGroup does NOT indicate that the breeder is a good breeder or worthy of your trust. But please do join us so that you may learn to tell the difference. General MinPin discussion IS allowed, but NO classified ads, online petitions, chain letters, jokes or off topic subject matter.

Rita - photo on loan from Prancealots Background: Blue MinPins exhibit a bi-color pattern of sharply defined Blue and Rust. Shades of Gray hair are exhibited where the Black is normally seen on a Black and Rust dog. More information is found on the Blue & Rust page; use the buttons below to navigate through the pages of this website.

eGroup is moderated for tone and candor. Members list is PRIVATE, non-published even to other members, joining anonymously IS possible if you require discretion and want to read the posts retaining your privacy.

Our goal is SIMPLE, to work WITH the MPCA and to prove that in the best interest of the breed we should have the Blue & Rust suspension lifted and specimens judged for quality. We want to get them into the show ring where they can sink or swim - win or lose by the AKC judges' interpretation of our standard. We simply want them in the hands of the reputable breeders and OUT OF the rare-color-puppy-factories.
